5 Reasons Why Lusy Is Better Than Metamucil
Same clinically-proven psyllium husk that has helped millions with digestion, blood sugar, cholesterol, appetite control, and more — just without the artificial ingredients and a much better taste. Here's why Lusy is the best choice.
Upgrade your fiber today

01
Mouthwatering Taste

Lusy launched with a truly delicious Strawberry Lemonade flavor, sweetened with monk fruit and stevia instead of aspartame, and colored with beet juice powder instead of Yellow 6.
The best fiber supplement is the one you'll actually drink every day — and taste is what makes that happen, so this is key.
02
Organic Psyllium Husk
Psyllium husk is the outer layer of the seed, directly exposed to soil and growing conditions during cultivation, which is why we decided to prioritize organic sourcing for this particular ingredient.
Lusy uses organic psyllium husk, Metamucil doesn’t.
03
No Added Maltodextrin
The #2 most abundant ingredient in Metamucil is maltodextrin, a highly glycemic starch, and they add it to improve mixability.
Lusy uses premium organic psyllium husk and is formulated to dissolve without added maltodextrin or other filler starches.
04
Cleaner Ingredients

Lusy is made with organic psyllium husk, natural flavors, citric acid, and monk fruit and stevia extracts as sweeteners, with beet juice powder for color.
Metamucil's formulations vary by SKU, but most include ingredients such as artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, and relatively large amounts of maltodextrin (always the second most abundant ingredient in their formulas)
05
Science-backed Serving Size
A single serving of Lusy contains 5 grams of psyllium husk, in line with the doses used in most clinical research (typically 5–10g/day for measurable effects). It’s not clear how much psyllium husk is in each serving of Metamucil’s drink powders.
Its capsules deliver a much smaller dose per unit, and reaching an effective daily amount would require taking 10+ capsules a day.

Why Lusy?
Lusy makes it easier to get the fiber your body needs every day.
More than 90% of Americans do not consume enough fiber, while over 50 million experience constipation annually and 16% live with chronic constipation.
Using science-backed fiber, Lusy supports digestive regularity, constipation relief, blood sugar control, lower LDL cholesterol, appetite control, IBS management, and a healthy gut microbiome. Oh, and did we mention it tastes absolutely delicious?
How to Take Lusy
Mix one serving into at least 8 oz of cold water, stir well, and drink promptly before it thickens.
For regularity and general fiber support, take it whenever you can be consistent. For fullness or blood sugar support, take it 15–20 minutes before a meal. If you’re new to fiber, start slowly and increase gradually.
Ingredients & Allergens
Lusy is made with organic psyllium husk, citric acid, natural flavors, stevia, monk fruit, and beet juice powder for color. It’s sugar-free and contains no artificial ingredients. Lusy contains no major allergens.
Please review the product label for the complete ingredient list and other relevant allergen information.
Benefits
The organic psyllium husk in Lusy forms a gel in your digestive tract that helps support regularity, healthy stool consistency, digestive health, healthy cholesterol levels, a steadier blood sugar response, and greater fullness between meals.* Results may vary and consistent daily use is important.
Daily Use & Safety
Lusy is designed for daily use when taken as directed on the package and with enough water. Some people may experience temporary gas or bloating when first increasing their fiber intake, so starting gradually can help.
Never swallow the powder dry. Take it at least two hours before or after oral medications.

Any last questions?
What is psyllium husk?
Psyllium husk is the outer seed coat of the Plantago ovata plant. It is mostly fiber and is especially valuable because it forms a gel when it touches water. That gel is the main reason psyllium, and therefore Lusy, works differently from many other fiber supplements.
How soon will I notice results?
Many people notice improved regularity within 1–3 days of consistent psyllium use. However, your experience may depend on your diet, hydration, current fiber intake, and digestive system.
Can I mix Lusy with hot water?
We recommend using cold water or a cold beverage. Hot liquids can make psyllium gel faster, which may create a thicker and less pleasant texture.
When is the best time to take Lusy?
It depends on your goal. For appetite control and blood sugar support, take Lusy about 15–20 minutes before a meal. For regularity or general fiber intake, the most important thing is consistency, so take it at a time you can stick with daily.
Why do I need to drink it quickly?
Psyllium naturally thickens as it absorbs water. That gel is what makes it effective, but if you wait too long, the drink can become too thick. For the best experience, mix it well and drink it shortly after preparing it.
Are there any precautions I should know about?
Yes. Always mix Lusy with enough water and never swallow dry psyllium powder. Psyllium can also slow the absorption of some medications, so it is best to take it at least 1–2 hours before or after prescription medication. Consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, have a medical condition, have difficulty swallowing, have a chronic GI condition, or experience abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding, or a sudden change in bowel habits.
What makes Lusy different from Metamucil?
Lusy was created as a more modern psyllium supplement. It tastes absolutely delicious (which is very important) and it uses premium ingredients.
For example, Lusy uses organic psyllium husk and does not rely on added maltodextrin for mixability, as does Metamucil. Lusy also uses natural flavors, monk fruit, stevia, and beet juice powder instead of artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners (aspartame), and artificial colors (Yellow 6).
How is Lusy different from Benefiber?
Lusy and Benefiber are both fiber supplements, but they use different types of fiber, so they work differently in the body.
Lusy is made with psyllium husk, a gel-forming fiber. When mixed with water, it forms a thick gel that helps support regularity, digestive health, appetite control, healthy blood sugar response, and LDL cholesterol levels.
Benefiber is made with wheat dextrin, a non-gel-forming soluble fiber. It dissolves easily and is mainly used for gentle fiber support and gut microbiome support, but it does not form the same thick gel that gives psyllium its broader digestive and metabolic benefits.
So, the simple difference is this:
Benefiber is better if you want a tasteless fiber that dissolves easily. Lusy is better if you want a more comprehensive fiber supplement for regularity, digestive health, appetite control, blood sugar support, and LDL cholesterol support.
Why choose a drink mix instead of capsules or pills?
Psyllium capsules are convenient, but they usually contain only about 500–700 mg of psyllium each. To reach a meaningful serving of 5–7 grams, you may need 8–12 capsules. A drink mix makes it easier to take an effective amount and allows the psyllium to hydrate quickly.

†Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 7 grams of soluble fiber per day from psyllium husk, as in Lusy, may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol already within normal levels. One rounded teaspoon of Lusy has 3.5 g of this soluble fiber.
